July 2010. Reclaiming a wooded area.
An area of woodland is put to good use. Raised planting areas with mulched bark pathways lead to a paved barbeque area adjacent to the 'Ecodec' (wood polymer composite) dining terrace. Further planting will continue over the coming seasons. At the other end a childrens play area will see the addition of a wooden climbing frame & swing.
July 2010 'Give & Gain ' day at Millbrook primary School.
Volunteers from Enterprise Rent-A-Car build an outdoor classroom with the materials we happily donated.
July 2010 - New fences
The overgrown hedges are removed including their roots and replaced with new fences.
June 2010 Paving a balcony.
Our clients property includes a balcony which offers magnificent views. Paving was introduced to give the area a contemporary feel.
June 2010. A new fence in Thornhill.
Following a planning application permission was given to resite the boundary fence. Approximately 20 square metres have been 'reclaimed'.
May 2010. A small cicular patio.
A circular patio made from Indian sandstone cobbles, edged with timber railway sleepers.
RHS Spring Flower Show 2010
Irene's Garden is awarded the RHS Silver-Gilt Medal and 'Best in Show'.

The garden is now complete. Its all down to the judges now........

Day 1. We start work on the Show Garden 'Irenes garden'
April 2010. Nearly finished....
The garden in Whitchurch is near completion.
March 2010 in Whitchurch
Poor weather conditions slow progress. A new fence & gate are erected along with the remaining bespoke trellis. Our clients were keen to preserve a lilac tree so we built the panels around it. An enhanced image shows how it might look without it.
March 2010. A welcome dry spell....
The dry weather allows progress to be made in Whitchurch.
March 2010 Garden in Whitchurch
3 days later and 30 tonnes of soil have been removed. The garden is now ready for the hard landscaping.

Work begins on a garden in Whitchurch. The first thing to be removed is a sizable tree root.

This gentle flowing rill in Llandaff took just a few days...

The garden in Cyncoed is near completion. Additional planting beds have been created and the paving beneath the pergola is laid. All that remains is for the plants to be introduced.

Trellis and crushed slate are introduced to complete the hard landscaping. All that remains now is planting. This will be done in the Spring.

A break in the weather allows us to carry on. Retaining walls for the raised beds are rendered and given their first coat of paint.

Nearly there.....and then came the snow!

Typically bad weather but progress is made in Cyncoed.....
December '09. A garden in Cyncoed.
During December we are creating a magnificent garden designed by RHS medal winner Gaynor Witchard.
November '09. Installing a land drainage system.
A very wet start to the month makes installing a land drainage system very messy.....
October '09.... trimming a large hedge.
We tackled this large hedge in Cyncoed (Cardiff) this week and dropped the height by approximately 3 meters.
October '09...
Progress is made with the addition of a boundary wall in place of the fence. This will be finished with painted render to match the house. We are also pleased to welcome two students from the local High School for a weeks' work experience. The front garden is levelled-off with a mini digger.
September 09. A new fence in Cardiff
A damaged fence was replaced utilising the existing concrete posts.....
September 09. Paving project.
The patio in Thornhill is completed. Buff coloured textured paving is laid in a random style pattern, finished with 'tumbled' kerb edging.
September ....A decking project.
A simple decking project is completed in a single day.

The rain brings progress to a near stand-still ...
26/06/09 A fence in Thornhill, Cardiff.
Despite the bad weather a new fence is erected for customers in Thornhill.
18/06/09 .Favourite Gardener' World Live small garden...
Visitors to the show were invited to vote for their favourite 'small' garden. Today the results were announced......we won! Thanks to everyone who voted for us.
10/06/09....Silver Gilt Medal.
Today we are awarded a Silver Gilt Medal for the show garden. Some of the Gardeners World presenters visit us.
31/05/09 Building starts at NEC
The weather is hot and sunny as building starts on the show garden. Log sleepers and water feature are laid.
